Hello Winter

Nothing too exciting to report here- I was completely snowed in this weekend. I received about 2 ft. of snow. Yes, winter has officially arrived. With nothing else to do, I did about 6 loads of laundry, caught up on all tv shows and knit. By last night I had a huge case of cabin fever. Unfortunately I ended up getting sick and having a horrible tension headache last night so I went to bed extremely early. I love the holidays, but sometimes the stress of it all can be overwhelming. Tonight I'm baking for the people in my department and hopefully will begin packing for Christmas (I'll be staying at my parents from Wednesday night through Sunday morning), as well as finish the hat for my niece. Once I do I will be sure to post pics!

I hope that you all are almost ready for the holidays and are safe in all of your travels! Cheers!

I am LOVING etsy.com

Etsy.com is certainly my go to place when I have no idea what to buy for a gift. I have been so busy this holiday season that I was behind on finishing up my shopping. This morning I had some fabulous finds that I just needed to share with all of you:

Seller: rumpunch
* beautiful handmade monogrammed silver pieces. I purchased this necklace for one of my friends:

Seller: KM Thomas Designs

* Cute stationary that can be personalized with any words, names or initials. These are the choices I made for my mom and sisters. Each with their initials on the top:

Seller: Acorn Beach

*more handmade jewelry. I purchased a handstrung glass bead necklace. (sorry no picture)

A few more great sellers that I came across:

Pink Pins and Needles
Decal Monograms

Pecan Pie Puppies

Happy Shopping!

Knocking and Knitting

I'm sorry, but I need to vent. When we are little, aren't we all taught to knock on a door if it is closed before entering? The motion isn't very difficult, and there are many techniques to make it your own, but why is it that some people still just try to barge into places without knocking?! There is a single person bathroom by where I sit at work. AT LEAST twice daily when I am in there people try to open the door without knocking! It always scares me half to death! Why wouldn't they be afraid of walking in on someone? I'm always afraid that I am going to forget to lock the door and someone is going to barge in on me. It is common curtesy America, knock before entering!
On a higher note, I have decided to take up knitting. I know it is very 75 year old grandmother of me, but it is something that I have always wanted to learn. I watched a few 'how-to' videos on youtube and gave it a whirl. I am attempting to make my niece Maeve something for her first Christmas. I figured that something for an infant would be easier than a scarf or something as it will be much smaller :). I'll let you all know how it goes!

proof of kindness in the world

Update: The jersey that I was frantically looking for this morning has been purchased! I had found it on ebay and emailed the seller and they agreed to let me purchase it today! I am sure that if he had kept the bid going it would have sold for a lot more than I purchased it for. I am so thankful for kind people in the world and acts of the holiday kindness. Kevin is going to love it!

calling all helpful bloggers!!!

Ladies, I need your help! All Kevin want's for Christmas is a Milan Lucic Boston Bruins Home Jersey. Stupid me decided that I would wait until today (pay day) to order it online. I found a website that carried it and bookmarked it yesterday for easy access. This morning I went to purchase it and it was sold out! I have been crazily calling all the local sporting goods stores and scouring the internet but it is no where to be found! I found the jersey (perfect size and everything) on ebay, but the bid doesn't end for 6 days. I emailed the seller to see if there was anyway I could purchase it from him before that, but am still awaiting a reply. If any of you know where I could find one (size medium) it would truly be a Christmas miracle!

Yay! Power!

I finally have my power back!! It's so nice to actually have dinner in my own apartment. My awsome roommate brought home champagne to celebrate. We finished the bottle and have moved onto cranberry vodkas. This is definitely a time for cocktails!! No gossip girl tonight, BUT speidi get's married on the hills tonight. Can't wait!

P.S. Anyone else super pumped for "The City"?

Weekend with no power

As some of you may have heard, we had quite the weekend here in New England. We had a huge ice storm on Thursday night that left most people without power for the weekend. Well, I'm still waiting for my power to come back on! Luckily I have wonderful friends and family members that never lost power, so I have been bouncing around to different houses all weekend. I am praying that the power comes back on today. I miss sleeping in my own bed!

Here are a few of my favorite pieces to layer with this fall/winter:

The gift of extra holiday pounds...

We all know that there are many wonderful things about the holidays. Seeing family, spending time with loved ones, delicious goodies, etc. The downfall to all of this wonderfulness is the extra weight that might seem to sneak up on us during this time. It can be difficult to count calories during the holidays (and a pain) so many people simply don't. Someone that I work with fasts for a day once weekly in order to keep her system and mind on track. What do you all do to help fight the holiday buldge??

I'm baaaaaack

Hello Strangers! It seems like an eternity since I have posted something. My apologies. As you know I started a new position exactly two months ago and it has been a whirlwind. I am always very busy, but a good busy. I have been exposed to many new things which has been very exciting. A lot has happened in the past two months and I will try my hardest to catch you up on the good points.

As I am writing, I am watching the snow fall outside of my window. The first few snow falls are always my favorite time of winter. I am not a big winter fan, but something about the stillness outside when it is snowing is so magical. Our first snow came on Sunday morning. I walked into town with one of my roommates for breakfast and it was so beautiful outside. Everything was quiet, still and peaceful.

So one of the biggest things that has happened since I last posted, is that my sister had her baby!!!! I'm now an aunt! Maeve Caitlin was born on October 31st at 8:37 pm. She was 6lbs 9 oz and 18.5 inches long. She is one lucky little girl. Can you imagine having your birthday on Halloween?! First of all, she'll be able to have the best birthday parties ever, and secondly, no one will ever forget her birthday. She is so beautiful and wonderful. I try to spend every spare moment I have with her. (I'm actually heading over there tonight with Kevin to have dinner with them!)
